Time to Get Out of That Rut

You know those times when it seems life has grinded to a halt and you find yourself stuck in an unfulfilling relationship or in a “I’ll never find someone” mentality or in a job that just doesn’t do it for you…well, it’s time to get out of that rut.

This week’s show, Lexi joins Tony and they talk about what it’s like being stuck in a rut…sharing their own personal experiences…as well as the pretty easy way to get yourself moving again.

The frustration of being stuck at a place that you know you shouldn’t be at is sometimes so strong, that it keeps us from even seeing the other possibilities and opportunities that we have.  Especially when it comes to relationships, because there’s an added wrinkle…there’s another person’s feelings involved.

Lexi talks about the “feeling” being just that…obviously we aren’t actually stuck in anything, like finding ourselves in a sticky mud bog…stuck and unable to move.  And that’s the key…

…the key is that the “rut” is self-generated…you are actually putting yourself in a position where you feel stuck, where you can see no obvious way out of your current situation…and why would you do such a thing to yourself?…because it is working for you…or more accurately, for your ego.

The entire point of you hitting your head up against something and feeling as though you cannot continue on your path of growth is because you may be facing the fact that you make a lousy decision in the past that took you to the stuck place you are now at…or, you may have opened up emotionally with your partner up to a point where it now scares the hell out of you to get any more open, or vulnerable…then your ego is telling you to bail, but your head and heart know you shouldn’t…you see how that works?  We create the opposing forces in our own minds in order to protect ourselves from possibly hurting ourselves or other people.

Luckily, there is a way out of the rut…a way to get unstuck that will not directly challenge the Ego…it’s almost like you are tricking your brain into getting unstuck…like tricking the guard to hand you the keys to your cell because you want to admire their shape…trickery…

Tony and Lexi end the show by getting into a three step process for perfect communication.  It’s sort of a topic for another show, but they just couldn’t help themselves.

Peace out!
